Things to Consider
-On the day of your appointment, please allot at least an hour. While the casting process most likely will not take that long, set up, molding and de-molding, etc., will take some time.
-A deposit of 50% is due at the time of molding. The rest is due at the time of delivery of the finished sculpture. We take check, cash, credit card, and PayPal.
-The finished sculpture will be completed in about 2 weeks. Displays increase the turn-around time by 2-3 weeks.
-Children must be old enough (we find 5 or 6 years of age, and up do better) to sit still for at least 20-25 minutes. Infants/babies need to be asleep or very relaxed for the process. You know your child best, so please keep his individual abilities for stillness in mind. Sometimes, babies and children wiggle, which can impact the quality of the mold, and subsequently, your finished sculpture. We always give it our best effort in getting the most well-formed mold; but after three attempts, if baby isn't having it, we'll suggest rescheduling when she is having a better day.
-All of the materials we use are safe, and non-toxic. The mold-making material that comes in contact with your skin is the same mold material the dentist uses in your mouth to take dental molds.
-Wear short-sleeves. Chances are, you will not get anything on your clothes that will stain, but if you're concerned, wear older clothes.
-All sculptures will be dried, refined, and painted a matte ivory, only. No other are colors available. Displays are extra, and can be painted in white or black, or custom colors for an additional cost.
-We LOVE custom orders! Never hesitate to brainstorm with us on an idea!
-We come to you if you spend more than 100 dollars with us, and if you live in the greater Columbia community. Otherwise, you can set up an appointment with us at The Pitter Platter on Main St in Lexington, SC. Contact us to set up an appointment. (If you live outside of this area, and/or you are unable to come to us and will be spending under 100 dollars, contact us. We may still come to you for a small travel fee.)
-Completed sculptures are made of strong, stone plasters. While very sturdy, they are still breakable. Surfaces are susceptible to weather damage, so sculptures are for INDOORS ONLY. A cast of four hands weighs about 9 pounds, so consider your surface in which it will displayed. A heavy cast will not be able to be displayed on the wall, and will have to sit on a tabletop.
